SF6 Gas

Frequently asked questions

What benefits does SF6 gas reconditioning or preparation offer?

  • Reconditioning or preparation instead of disposal of used SF6 and purchasing new gas
  • Compliance with the Closed Substance Cycle Waste Management Act (KrWG) requirements
  • Quick processing times thanks to optimised processes
  • The perfect solution from an economic and ecological viewpoint

What criteria must the SF6 gas meet to be sent to DILO?

The gas values for moisture, decomposition products and percentage of SF6 must be known. The SO2 value of the gas must be < 250 ppmv. For SO2 values of ≥ 250 ppmv the customer must carry out partial purification on site before shipping of the gas.  DILO can also carry out this purification at the customer’s premises.

Who do I need to contact if I want to send SF6 gas to DILO?

If all information is correct, you will receive the check list back with an authorisation number.  This check list should be printed out and attached to each package which will be sent to DILO. Please send a photo of the attached check list to DILO by e-mail.

What is the quality of the SF6 gas after reconditioning?

After reconditioning by DILO, the SF6 gas has a purity of > 99.9 vol.-% (> 99.99 wt%) and thus complies with IEC 60376:2018 for new SF6 gas.

How does DILO guarantee that the reconditioned SF6 gas complies with the valid standards and guidelines?

Each batch of reconditioned DILO Certified Gas is subject to gas chromatography and spectroscopic analysis in the DILO in-house laboratory in order to check compliance with the purity criteria.

In which vessels are the gas mixtures supplied?

DILO can supply SF6 in 10 l, 40 l or 50 l cylinders or 600 l tanks. Other vessels and materials are available on request.
