Reporting obligation for producers to the EU Commission

Article 19 (EU) F-Gas Regulation 517/2014

Article 19 of the F-Gas Regulation (EU) No. 517/2014 stipulates the reporting obligation concerning the use of the SF6 gas to the European Commission. First by 31 March 2015 and every year thereafter, imported and exported quantities of > 22 kg (500 t CO2 equivalent) SF6 per year in switchgear and/or > 4.4 kg (100 t CO2 equivalent) per year as bulk (in cylinders and containers) are to be reported. This mainly concerns importers and exporters. Reporting by the producers is only required if larger quantities of SF6 are delivered in separate vessels (> 4.4 kg SF6/year).

Operators of SF6-insulated switchgear, however, are not required to report the use of SF6 to the EU Commission. There is a reporting obligation only if the energy supplier imports and/or exports SF6 gas from outside the EU into the European Community, be it as gas in switchgear for quantities of > 500 t CO2 equivalent (> 22 kg SF6) or more or as bulk in cylinders or other vessels for quantities of > 100 t CO2 equivalent (> 4.4 kg SF6) or more.

For SF6 gas monitoring, i.e. for the registration of SF6 consumption volumes and the stock management of SF6 gas, DILO supplies different devices and software, which considerably facilitate stock management and preparation of the mass balance.

Furthermore, it is possible to recondition or prepare used SF6 gas for reuse. This means that SF6 gas mixtures (N2/air and/or CF4) can be prepared for reuse up to a purity degree of > 99.9 % and the costs for storage, disposal and transportation can thus be minimised.

DILO offers you the reconditioning of SF6 gas for reuse as a service. For more information on this topic, see section “DILO Certified Gas”.
